Winch challenge provides thrills and spills

A meeting would be held in February to discuss forming a South Island circuit, with Timaru to be one of the legs. However, given the popularity of the event, Mr Johnstone said there would be another event in Timaru next year either way.
Organisers estimated about 1000 people attended the event. A real crowd pleaser had been an added stage – combining stages three and five and abandoning all the rules. That saw 4WDs going forwards, backwards, sideways, and become airborne.

Sounds like the south island has got there shit together with five rounds planned for next year, Whats happening with the series up here, they even managed to get crowds along which has got to be good for the sponsors. Whats there secret to success? Would be interesting to know how the two classes worked and what they were.
