Do you want to put anything in its place? |

I personally would like to see this in the penalty regime. If you remove this how many attempts are you going to allow. Multiple attempts are likely to cause track damage. I know that the marshals can use 26.22 Deemed stuck, this assumes that they have an air horn and can warn the driver. Alternately greater use can be made of 26.20 controlled hazard. |

Speaking from Mainland series. We allow as many attempts as you wish with no penalty - after all, each attempt takes time and if it takes 4 goes by then you may have winched up. If, it is likely to cause damage to the course for the following competitiors then it simply becomes a controlled hazard, signified by a big X for the start and finish of the control. If not driven the 1st attempt you Must winch. Works very well, gets more into the skill of driving. |

George, the controlled hazard is effectively rule 25.15 made into a penalty. When you think about it, if you were to make 25.15 into a penalty, you would need to somehow define the parts of a stage where reversing would be classed as re-aligning and where it would be classed as a second attempt - which of-course is what a controlled hazard defines. Glen, thanks for a Mainland perspective. What you describe is what we've had for several years now, but the old rule 25.15 has confused people. It's a redundant rule as it has no penalty assigned to it but many mistake it for a penalty. Removing it is all about making things simpler to understand. |

Well it has confused me. Jeremy, are you saying that unless stated otherwise, under the current rules, a competitor may have several attempts at driving anything, with out penalty? please excuse my ignorance here. |

Yes, until the marshal decided they are either "deemed stuck" or exercising "excessive wheel spin" and warns them, and then if they don't stop they get a penalty. Unless of-course they are in a controlled hazard where they will be "penalized without warning". |
