Hello guys, been thinking, as far as a series goes its great, but i believe 3 events would be enough, but if there were 4 events or more ayear that would be great, but you can drop you worst round, event,
so its best out of three
this would help keep the cost for competitors down, this is what the trials guys do, and it works really well,
if one round is too far away and you want to chance it you dont go, but if you first round went bad you could be able to make it as as long as your next 3 rounds were ok.
remembering if you dont go to that other round/ event you would not be happy if the next event you went baddly, but thats the chance you take, if you can afford to do all 4 rounds thats great, just drop your worst placing event. its easy.
Well thats my 10c worth

Trevor, it's on the 4x4 Challenges NZ agenda to make contact with the various organisers of South Island challenges. We would like those events to be working with current rules and with us, to try and get consistency and good safety practices.
It's great that there is the growing level of interest in winch challenges and it is to be encouraged, but they should be managed for risks as best they can. Building an event calendar for 2008 is another task to be done and if people know of proposals for events we'd like to hear of them.

Trevor, I'll drop you an email about the smilies and hopefully we can work out what the problem is.

We need to start a list of possible events for the 2008 year. Not all would be part of the National Series but we need some to chose from!
We know that there's the Norwest Challenge being organised for March but that's the only one so far.
A number of events have been run in the South Island over 2007 that are outside of the NZFWDA and 4x4 Challenges NZ, but have claimed to be using the 4x4 Challenge rules. It would be good to bring those organisers under a common umbrella to ensure that the latest rules are being used and that there is best practice risk management in place.
If organisers and competitors are members of 4x4 Challenges NZ, then events can be hosted by this club and tie in with the NZFWDA insurance cover and the availability of a common scoring system etc. Membership does not preclude other clubs being involved and making a possible income.
Perhaps a list of possible 2008 events and the organiser contact could be listed on this thread?

There will be a comp in Northland. We are working on something that ill have mud, sand and rocks. From our point of view, later in the season works better. About now is good as it is warm but still quite wet.

All help is much appreciated. If this goes as planned then it could be a very good way to get other clubs invovled in hosting.
