Hi there,
Was the recently held 2011 Manukau Winch Challenge a sanctioned Round in the north island series?
And therefore should it have had series points up for grabs?

Hi Tim,

Thanks for asking the question. This question has been around for some time and has been discussed on other forums.
I have done some research and found there was past discussion about limiting points if there were few competitors in a class in a sanctioned event. Minutes I have seen do not show that any resolution was passed.

Therefore, it is my view (and that of others) that the number of competitors in a class in a 4X4 Challenges sanctioned event is irellevant. If a potential competitor chooses not to compete then their choice should not affect those who do.
A future 4X4 Challenges resolution may clarify this position further.

I agree (for what it’s worth) the competitor made an effort to be there and those of us in the know can certainly appreciate exactly how much effort it takes to get ready for a competition, any competition. He should not be penalised because someone else in the same class did not turn up.
