Winch Challenge Rules
Winch challenge rules - what are they?
These rules cover all aspects of a winch challenge competition including vehicle specifications and competition rules. They are designed to offer a safe, fair and fun competition for all involved.
The process
It is the intention that a version of the rules will remain current for the calendar year. Suggested rule change submissions can be placed at any time during the year and a new version released in time for the next years competition.
Make a suggestion
Rule suggestions should be put in writing and emailed to rules@4x4challenges.org.nz.
Please make sure you're suggestions are well researched and attach all appropriate information and specifications to your written email submission.
Ask us first
If you're not sure if the rules allow for something, or will continue to do so in the future - ask us first, and save yourself wasting time with something that may not be legal.
Rules for marshals
If you're going to be a marshal at an upcoming event, we suggest you download the latest copy of the winch challenge rules and make sure you're up to speed on the 'Competition rules' section.
We realise that help for new marshals is severely lacking and we are working towards improving this.
The rules committee
The 4x4 Challenges rules committee is a dedicated group who's experience covers all areas of winch challenge with competition, event organisation, marshalling and engineering backgrounds.
They have the final say on all rule changes and are tasked with developing the winch challenge rules to encourage growth and to insure that they are in the best interest of the sport.
The committee can be contacted by emailing rules@4x4challenges.org.nz
